Sometimes it doesn’t work, like when the database can’t find a record, or more rarely, when there were several different versions of a record on vinyl or CD and the order of the songs has been rearranged. This way, you are saved the work of typing in each track name individually. This is where the program is a huge time-saver… dividing the file into individual songs, and looking through databases on the internet for the track names. With that done, I then bring the file into Vinyl Studio for final work. I’ll manually optimize the file and balance the tracks if necessary. But it’s rare that I’ll do further noise reduction… a certain amount of minor clicks and crackle is a part of the vinyl experience, and too much cleanup destroys the character. I’ll then declick the guard bands in between songs. Once recorded, I bring the PCM10 upstairs and download the file into my computer.įirst I usually apply a rumble filter which greatly cleans up the waveform, then scan for really obnoxious pops and fix these individually. I’ve only done this experimentally though. Once dry, it peels away from the vinyl, taking specks of dust and dirt with it. A somewhat risky way to clean really dirty albums is with a thin layer of Elmer’s glue. One of these days I’ll build an utrasonic/ centrifugal record cleaning machine. (three parts distilled water, one part pure isopropryl alcohol, and one or two drops of Dawn dish detergent to break the surface tension. I always clean the surface of the vinyl with a water-alcohol solution. The biggest reason is that my turntable is downstairs in the basement, and my audio workstation is in the office upstairs. While you can use VinylStudio to record the file directly into your computer, I record onto a Somy PCM10 recorder. I mainly use Adobe Soundbooth CS5 for editing and noise reduction, but for really difficult situations, I’ll use Izotope RX Pro. Besides, they cost a pile of money so I’d rather use them than let them sit. It’s not because Vinyl Studio can’t do the job, it’s just that I’ve been using other programs for editing and noise reduction for years and I’m more familiar with them. The program has a capable noise reduction section, but I use other programs for this job. You can use it to burn CDs of your records if you like, or save the files in a number of different formats besides MP3s, including WAV, AAC (Advanced Audio Coding), AIFF (Audio Interchange File Format), ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec), DFF, DSF, (there are different types of Direct Stream Digital formats) FLAC Free Lossless Audio Codec), and OGG (Ogg Vorbis open-source format). At $30, its a fairly inexpensive, yet still pretty capable program. VinylStudio was designed to be a standalone program for getting your vinyl records onto your computer. Here I’m working on a transfer for a client in Nashville called “A Christmas Delight” by Winifred Smith, cut in 1967… not likely to show up on iTunes anytime soon. “(Ray) has failed to communicate with Plaintiffs and the Court in any manner –even while continuing to participate on social media, post articles on the website of The Daily Stormer, and publish podcasts,” said plaintiffs’ attorneys in court documents filed in June.Īs for the criminal case, which charges Ray with maliciously releasing gas, authorities have labeled him a fugitive since his 2018 indictment. Since September 2019, he has been flouting court orders and missing appearances in a civil case that names him as one of 24 defendants accused of conspiring to plan, promote and carry out the violent events of Charlottesville. It’s not just the police who are searching for Ray. Robert Warren Ray, pictured in 2017, is a neo-Nazi known as "Azzmador." Mallory Simon/CNN He quickly became one of the top 20 earners on DLive, according to an analysis by online extremism expert Megan Squire of Elon University in North Carolina, who studied the period from April 2020 – the earliest data available – through mid-January 2021. However, Ray’s podcast, which he calls The Krypto Report, later appeared on a new gaming livestreaming service that has become a haven for right-wing extremists who have been deplatformed from YouTube and other mainstream social media channels.Ĭalled DLive, the live-streaming platform with a blockchain-based reward system allows users to accept cryptocurrency donations – another perk for extremists barred from using services such as PayPal or GoFundMe, or who want to raise money internationally. The fugitive, known in far-right circles as a prolific podcaster under a Bigfoot-themed avatar and the name “Azzmador,” has vanished – at least from real life. 22.Weeks before the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017, a burly and bearded neo-Nazi told a CNN reporter on camera that “Jews are terrorists.”Īt the rally – which turned deadly – he participated with gusto, carrying a banner that, according to court documents, said, “Gas the kikes, race war now!” during a march past a synagogue.īut when Robert Warren Ray was indicted in June 2018 for using tear gas on counter-protesters at the event, police discovered he was nowhere to be found. District Court Judge Dana Christensen is reaffirming that ruling.Īt this point, the case is set to go to trial Jan. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah Lynch had rejected Anglin’s motion to dismiss the case on this grounds, and this week U.S. Gersh maintains Anglin published her personal contact information, along with that of her friends and family while calling his readers to a “troll storm” saying they were “sickened by their Jew agenda.” Tanya Gersh maintains she and her family were threatened by Andrew Anglin after he had published several articles on the neo-Nazi website.Īnglin had accused Gersh of pressuring Spencer’s mother during a real estate deal.Īnglin maintains his First Amendment rights were violated.Įarlier this year, U.S. Gersh maintains she and her family were threatened by Anglin after he had published several articles on the neo-Nazi website. MISSOULA – A federal judge is once more denying the motion to dismiss the lawsuit against the publisher of the “Daily Stormer” website, saying it would be “premature” to reject the case filed by a Whitefish woman.ĭaily Stormer publisher Andrew Anglin was sued last year by Tanya Gersh, toward the end of several weeks of “alt-right” debate in Whitefish involving movement leader Richard Spencer. But if, like me, you have thousands of old photos taken with point-and-shoot film or digital cameras, often in poor lighting or with a flash that overly brightened the foreground subjects while leaving background objects dim to the point of invisibility, the results can be impressive. From there, you can go back and process the image using only those presets, but in full resolution.Īre the results as jaw-droppingly stunning as true bracketed HDR photos? Of course not. You can even have the program quickly process your image through ALL of the presets (in lower resolution) then look through them to choose the one or ones that look best to you. From there, there are several dozen optional presets to choose from. The only thing I've used is the option to process "HDR from a single image", which is the first option in the first drop-down menu. I have not taken bracketed photos which can be used to create the true HDR masterpieces we see in the examples. While I do not have anywhere near the level of expertise that JohnL provided in his earlier review, I suspect that there are many others who use the software the way I do. Next to Irfanview, this is this is the software I use more than any other when fixing or tweaking my pictures. Is there a changelog available to show how this differs from the versions offered previously? Thanks again Franzis for offering an update to this amazing software, once again with the lifetime license. Update: Code Machine: Catalog of key Windows kernel data structures: The kernel variable ExpTimerResolutionListHead maintains a list of processes that have called NtSetTimerResolution() to change the timer interval. But it's hard to believe that Windows itself spontaneously changes "disliked" timer resolutions on its own. Note: It may well be that it was the kernel itself. Question: How can this data structure be accessed? However, more detailed investigation showes that it would not get asynchronously informed, some delay indicates that the suspicious process/driver perhaps monitored the actual timer resolution data structure frequently. The process/driver must have gotten knowledge of the fact that the odd resolution was unregistered and it released its registration as well. by a call to timeEndPeriod, the resolution shall stay where it has been set to by the suspicious process/driver which disliked the odd resolution.īut that's not the case! The resolution returns to a lower resolution. When the odd resolution is taken off the list, e.g. A change to a lower resolution would be prohibited. But now the system should be stuck at that resolution if there was not way to query the data structure. However, this can only go in one direction the process/driver could only modify the timer resolution by choosing a higher resolution. Consequently, the suspicious process/driver would change the timer resolution to better suit its requirements. First thoughts led to the idea that this could be another application or a driver which just dislikes this particular odd resolution. Setting the timer resolution to one of these odd resolutions on XP / VISTA / 7 may cause the resolution to change spontaneously but not necessarily immediately to something more common on specific platforms. A list of supported resolution can be obtained by calling timeBeginPeriod(uPeriod) with increasing values of uPeriod (typically ranging from 1 to 16). Some resolutions are typical, others seem odd since they hardly appear. The number of supported resolution depends on the version of Windows and the hardware platform. Working on this matter for some time has resulted in reasons to believe that there must be a way to access this information: The inspiring questions mentioned above are asking about an API to access this management data structure, particularly about which processes acquired which timer resolutions or even only which process has acquired the current resolution. See MSDN: Timer Resolution for more details. The next highest resolution may be less or equal to the currently highest resolution. When an entry is removed and the acquired timer resolution was the currently highest resolution supported, the system works out what the next highest registered resolution is and sets the timer resolution accordingly. A subsequent call to timeEndPeriod or NtSetTimerResolution with SetResolution=FALSE will remove that entry. A call to timeBeginPeriod or NtSetTimerResolution with SetResolution=TRUE will register an entry in that data structure. The global nature of this timer resolution setting requires an internal data structure to keep track of which process has acquired which resolution. The timer resolution is a global setting, Windows uses the highest resolution requested by any process. Any process is allowed to acquire timer resolutions supported by the platform. This question is inspired by SO questions How to tell which process set the high timer resolution in Windows?, How does powercfg -energy detect the requested timer resolution?, and careful investigations.īackground: Windows allows to modify the system timer resolution by means of the functions timeBeginPeriod / timeEndPeriod or the underlying NtSetTimerResolution (exported by ntdll.dll). Novice consumers should take heed with this strain. Because of this, users have suggested that you start slowly with Tangerine Twist and always wait a while before smoking or vaping more to avoid overdoing it. Tangerine Kush has gorgeous super dense grape-shaped minty green nugs with thin golden orange hairs, bright golden. When it comes to the appearance and flavor of this bud, the name says it all. This tasty bud is infamous for its aroma, which is said to be identical to a walk through an orange grove just after it’s rained. Tangerine Kush is an indica dominant hybrid strain (70 indica/30 sativa) created through crossing the classic Tangerine Haze X Rare Dankness strains. I just bought a gram, the nugs were a pretty purple with hints of green and beautiful, vibrant orange hairs. There’s no one-time purchase, nor free/discounted access for Mac users, but you can open and play existing projects without subscription, so the pricing is fair for those with occasional needs. That’s not as limiting as it sounds, because $5 unlocks all features for an entire month, with discounted three-month ($14), six-month ($23), or 12-month ($40) options for those who need them. (Effects are the one thing that don’t currently work on Mac.)įotoMagico for iPad is free for 14 days, requiring a subscription to edit slideshows beyond the trial period. Ranging from color correction to comic book and film grain, masks, borders, and vignettes, effects are a neat way to spruce up any slideshow, although we’d love to see Instagram-style filters added in a future update. The iPad version also introduces 15 effects, which can be applied to photos and videos to change their appearance. Like the Mac version, FotoMagico for iPad includes more than 60 royalty-free music cues across seven different styles. This works great with included royalty-free music-more than 60 tracks across seven moods-but you’ll need to enter the BPM (beats per minute) for imported tunes that lack the proper metadata. (DRM-protected Apple Music tracks can’t be used at all, a limitation also imposed on Mac.) Pay to playĪlthough the app lacks a timeline view to shorten or extend slides, as in FotoMagico Pro on macOS, the iPad version does include Audio Marker Assistant, which automatically syncs the duration of slides to the beat of imported songs or manually added audio markers. The situation improves marginally with audio, but the search field is glacially slow to respond, and cloud-based tracks are inaccessible until first downloaded from the Music app. It took upwards of 15 seconds to initially access the media browser, with photos under the Recently Added category appearing out of chronological order and no way to sort them for easier access. The only issues came up when importing images, video, or audio from large libraries. (The upgrade to Pro is available as an In-App purchase for US49.99. The iPad version includes the ability to add effects to photos, a feature currently unavailable on Mac. A great no-frills option for those looking for affordable photo cards, with the added bonus of being able to print their cards in-store. The cards we ordered weren’t the highest quality, but you get good value for the price you pay for a Meijer photo card. See what photo printing sales are going on, find photo coupon codes, and shop the latest photo print deals online. We like the options for customization and affordable shipping fees. Meijer photo is a great budget option if you’re willing to compromise on style. The website has a ‘live help’ option 8am-10pm and there’s a phone number and email address you can also contact. New Customer Meijer Photo offers everything: prints, photo books, greeting cards, canvas with most ready in an hour or less. Meijer Photo is a great option for anyone living near a brick and mortar store, which means if you live nearby you can go in-store and speak to a customer assistant face-to-face. Overall we think these editing options get the balance right, giving you the chance to add a personal touch to your card without being overwhelming. You can also add clipart and a variety of frames to make your photos stand out. There’s the option to change the layout, theme and background and add text boxes with a variety of fonts and colors. The photo editor makes it easy to insert your photos and move them around, and notifies you if the quality is poor to ensure your cards are professional-looking. The selection of templates lacked the stylish touches we saw on sites such as Zazzle (opens in new tab) and Paper Source (opens in new tab), but for a budget option we still liked the large variety and ability to customize the cards on offer. It’s worth noting that, with fully customizable text, you can always edit a template for a different holiday to suit your specific needs. There were no cards for Kwanzaa, Chinese New Year or Rosh Hashanah, but the bases of Valentine’s Day and Birthday cards are covered. The variety of holiday cards on offer was lacking in comparison to other sites. It includes a professional photoshoot and two passport-sized prints. When looking for a card, we were able to search by price, theme, holiday, occasion, the number of photos you want to use and the trim type and size, which made it easy to find the kind of card we were looking for. Meanwhile, the Meijer passport photo price is 12.99. (Image credit: Future) Meijer Photo review: Product options and creation Photos, videos, and audio clips associated with specific map locations.
